The Fort Worth Jewish Archives were established in 1994 by the Jewish Federation of Fort Worth and Tarrant County to create a repository to collect, organize, and preserve records of the city’s two congregations, their associated organizations, committees, and members, and their interaction with the community. A viable research tool, the Archives are available to students, teachers, genealogists, historians, the media, and the general public. The Fort Worth Jewish Archives are a window to the past, a source for documenting aspects of the Fort Worth Jewish experience as well as understanding the diverse history of the surrounding community.
The Fort Worth Jewish Archives are in two locations: Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen Street (at the corner of Briarhaven Road), and at Beth-El Congregation, 4900 Briarhaven Road. The Archives office at each synagogue is located in a locked room connected to the library. The combined collections consist of nearly 400 archival boxes that fill 170 linear-feet of shelf space.
Volunteers meet two days a week throughout the year to process the collection and plan exhibits.
